To the south mile upon mile of green cultivated land, intersected by dramatic gorges stretches out beneath you. Here on the high plateau the rare Ethiopian Wolf , WalyaIbex and Lammergeier call this home. Troops of Gelada Baboons abound and the giant Lobelia can grow up to 10m in height. DAY 01: Departed DAY02: Addis Ababa /ADD Arrive in Addis Ababa, a city tour, first driving north up to Mount Entoto. In 1881 Emperor Menelik II made his permanent camp there, after remains of an old town (believed to have been the capital of 16th century monarch Lebna Dengel) were discovered, which Menelik took as a divine and auspicious sign. Addis Ababa, situated at an altitude of between 2300 – 2500 metres, is the third highest capital in the world..... DAY03: Addis Ababa /ADD - Gondar Fly to Gondar, An early start back to the airport for the internal flight to Gondar. Gondar was the imperial capital from the 17th to mid 19th Centuries, and today visitors can see the imperial compound, with castles still in good condition (some recently restored) and the bath of King Fasilides. DAY01: Addis/ADD Arrive in Addis Ababa, and have a city tour. a city tour, first driving north up to Mount Entoto. DAY02: Addis/ADD- Gondar In the morning fly to Gondar, in the afternoon visit the castles and church. Overnight Gondar in a selected hotel. DAY03: Gonder – Buyit Rass – Sankaber (3,200m) We drive (approx 3 hours) to the bustling town of Debark, and enter the Simien Mountain National Park. DAY04: Sankaber – Geech (3,600m) A hearty breakfast sets us on our way as we head towards Geech abyss and the stunning Jin Bahir Falls. Dropping down to the viewpoint perched on a rocky spur opposite the falls,.... DAY05: Geech (3600m) Today you set off for Geech, which will take between 7-8 hours. After about 2½ hours you see the Jinbar waterfall, and you will cross this river later in the day. DAY06: Geech - Mietgogo – Chenek (3,600m) Leaving camp, we set off on a steady climb across open moorland towards Mietgogo, a rocky outcrop perched high above the canyons. |

DAY 01: ADDIS ABABA /ADD Arrive in Addis Ababa DAY 02: Addis/ADD-Gondar We will take an early morning transfer out to the airport for your flight to Gondar. While in Gondar today and again on day nine, we will visit The Castles, which are still in good condition (some recently restored) and the bath of King Fasilides at Timkat (Ethiopian epiphany) has a nearby river diverted to fill an area the size of a small swimming pool. Worshippers plunge into the cold water undertaking a reenactment of the baptism of Christ in the river Jordan. DAY 03: Simien Lodge - Geech Today we will be rewarded with some amazing scenery and waterfalls. We head north east with an initial steep climb towards the escarpment. After about 1 ½ hours walking we come to the Jinnbar River and falls. DAY 04: Geech We set off today with a packed lunch to climb nearby Imetgogo 3926 meters, the trip takes about 1 ½ hours. You are now in the heart of the Simien Mountains with stunning cliff formed views north and south. DAY 05: Geech – Chenek We cross a number of forested valleys today again walking amongst the Giant Lobelias and see fantastic full views of the lowland plains scattered with small hills. DAY 06: Chenek- Ambiko Our trek today will be to Bwahit peak (4,430 meters) the second highest peak in the Simien Mountains viewing Ras Dashen in the distance. Day 07 – Ambiko - Ras Dashen - Ambiko Today we climb up Ras Dashen Mountain which is Ethiopia’s highest peak at 4620m above sea level. Those not wishing to climb the mountain can take a rest day and wander to the village and visit local homes. DAY 08: Ambiko – Chenek |

the most spectacular. With many of the peaks rising above 4000m, they make an awesome sight and contain Ethiopia’s highest mountain – and the fourth highest in Africa – Ras Dashen, standing majestically at 4620m. |
